COME CLOSER (2016)
....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
By Merav Dagan & Stav Marin
We summon them to us, through us,
with body and voice of trembling flesh.
Feminine mythology, familial mythology,
victims and victimizers,
voices upon voices upon voices.
The starting point of this piece is our meeting and our common interest
in victimhood/ victimity. We had an interest in its form, its politics, and in
the places it meets us as women.
Come Closer is a hybrid ritual of endless transformations, voices and
narratives of female identity and history that our bodies contain.
Length: 30 min
** The piece premiered at Curtain up festival and Performed in Stockholm

Praises for Come Closer:
“A screaming performance of the female experience… the work and its performance both create a condition that doesn’t allow the audience to enjoy themselves, even if they react in a way that seems like joy. It is only for a moment. The two scream or cry or laugh, saying ‘bear with us, in every sound’.” (Zvi Goren, “Habama”)
“Dagan and Marin are two dominant creators with distinct presence. The viewer is mesmerized by it. An accurate visual readymade, which depicts the portrait of the heroic woman, symbolic as a muse, to a fake, missing presence.” (Anat Zecharia, “Yediot Aharonot”)
“Merav Dagan and Stav Marin are two strong, experienced performers. Each one of them knows exactly who she is in their equation. It’s clear that an amusing, touching, existentially sensual, interpersonal reality is created upon stage. Singing in the sun, on and off-key.” (Ora Berfman, “Rikud Dibur”)
…” two scintillating, expressive and intelligent performers, collaborated on the duet Come Closer, a mesmerizing rapid-fire succession of allusive movement and gesture, meticulous, precise and wildly entertaining. It’s a challenge to the senses to meet the pace of this work’s imagery, a kinetic reflection on the mythology of woman, generating a multitude of associations.” (Ayelet Dekel , Midnight east)
"An intriguing work… they are both wonderful performers with moving honesty” (Ruth Eshel, “Haaretz”)
